Dr. Karen was born in Dallas, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University where she graduated Summa Cumm Laude with a degree in biology.  After two years working in a biochemistry lab, she attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston followed by a family medicine residency at Memorial Hermann Medical Center, which she completed in 1996.  She was chosen to lead her fellow residents as Chief Resident her final year of residency. 

After working in a private family practice group in Houston for four years, Dr. Karen moved to Denver where she lived and worked for 23 years as a family physician and occupational medicine specialist.  In June 2023, she chose to shift her career focus to a concierge style of practice and relocated to Naples to lead the Harper Health Naples office.  She enjoys spending time with her husband and two cats, beach combing, cruising, working out, and playing the harp.

Dr. Karen has staff privileges at NCH and Physicians Regional hospital systems in Naples.  She has held board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine since 1996.
